The National Junior Honor Society is an organization that recognizes and promotes the important qualities of scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.  Selection for membership in the National Junior Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a student.  The ideals of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship are considered as the basis for a student's selection into the National Junior Honor Society, as well as a high scholastic average.  Membership is more than an honor.  It demands a responsibility and an obligation to demonstrate these qualities.
